How to get started
STEP 1
learn the pattern (5 minutes)
- Fibonacci sequence: Each number is the sum of previous two
- 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144...
- Starting: 0+1=1, 1+1=2, 1+2=3, 2+3=5, 3+5=8, and so on
- Simple rule, infinite pattern
STEP 2
find IT IN flowers (5 minutes)
- Count petals on flowers you find:
- Lilies: 3 petals (Fibonacci!)
- Buttercups: 5 petals (Fibonacci!)
- Daisies: Often 34, 55, or 89 petals (Fibonacci!)
- Sunflower centers show spiral patterns - count them, often Fibonacci numbers
STEP 3
discover more patterns (5 minutes)
- Pinecones: Spirals go both directions - count them (usually 8 and 13)
- Pineapples: Same spiral pattern visible on the surface
- Tree branches: Count branches at each level up the trunk
- Shells: Nautilus shells follow Fibonacci spiral perfectly
STEP 4
the golden connection (5 minutes)
- As Fibonacci numbers get bigger, dividing them gets closer to 1.618 (golden ratio)
- 89/55 = 1.618... This ratio appears in art, architecture, even your body!
- Distance from ground to belly button / belly button to top of head ≈ 1.618
- This isn't coincidence - it's optimization through evolution
